Hans Zimmer, Hollywood’s most in demand and innovative film music composer whose 100 film scores have made over $24 billion at the box office, will be embarking on his very first tour this Spring.

It has now been announced that on selected dates the legendary guitarist Johnny Marr will be joining Zimmer’s studio band, orchestra and choir bringing the total number of musicians on stage to over 70.

Appearing on the whole tour, as featured performers will be Lebo M, the world famous voice from the score of The Lion King, and guitarist Mike Einziger from the band Incubus.

Marr has collaborated Zimmer on the soundtracks for Inception, The Amazing Spiderman 2 and most recently the score for Freeheld. Johnny will be appearing at the following Hans Zimmer Live On Tour 2016 shows;

6th/7th April             London, The SSE Arena, Wembley

20th April                  Berlin, Mercedes Benz Arena

26th May                   Manchester, Manchester Arena

29th May                   Dublin, 3 Arena

5th June                    Orange, Theatre Antique d’Orange

Marr has previously played live with Hans at the now legendary Hammersmith Apollo shows in 2014 and at the premiere of Christopher Nolan’s Inception in 2010.

On playing once more with Zimmer Johnny commented ““Playing with Hans is always great, all that great music, and the orchestra. On the stage it goes to another level”.

Hans Zimmer On Tour 2016 will kick off in London on April 6th, 2016 and will be taking in 31 cities in total before the finale at the spectacular Theatre Antique d’Orange on the 5th of June.

Due to overwhelming demand a third show has been added at Rockhal Luxembourg on May 21st. Tickets are on sale now.

The German-born musician has composed the iconic soundtracks to blockbusters such as Inception, Interstellar, The Dark Knight Trilogy (all with filmmaker Christopher Nolan), Gladiator, 12 Years a Slave, The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, Spiderman, The Thin Red Line, The Da Vinci Code, Mission Impossible, Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes, Thelma And Louise, Crimson Tide, Rain Man and many more.

Zimmer, who has been described ‘One of the 100 Living Geniuses’ by The Telegraph, has been honored with an Academy Award®, two Golden Globes®, three Grammys®, an American Music Award, and a Tony® Award. His most recent Academy Award nomination for Interstellar marks his 10th career Oscar nomination with the Academy. In 2003, ASCAP presented him with the prestigious Henry Mancini award for Lifetime Achievement for his impressive and influential body of work. He also received his Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010.

According to director Steve McQueen (12 Years A Slave) “Hans Zimmer is quite simply the contemporary composer to work with when it comes to translating a visual narrative into sound”.

The 2016 tour comes off the back of two very special ‘Hans Zimmer Revealed’ shows at London’s legendary Hammersmith Apollo in 2014. The sold out shows were rapturously received by critics and the public alike. Amazingly, in a Hollywood career that has spanned decades, these were Zimmer’s first full-length, live shows, and were made even more special by the appearance of two of Zimmer’s collaborators: the aforementioned guitarist Johnny Marr and Pharrell Williams.

Like the Hammersmith shows, ‘Hans Zimmer Live On Tour’, will be a striking visual experience designed and lit by world-renowned lighting designer Marc Brickman. Brickman has worked with everyone from Pink Floyd to Nine Inch Nails to Barbra Streisand, and heads the lighting direction of the Empire State Building in New York City.

It was during the Hammersmith shows that Zimmer and his friend and collaborator, Harvey Goldsmith, were encouraged to put on the Europe-wide concert series.

On the announcement of the tour, Zimmer commented, “Performing a tour like this is something that I have always wanted to do, and I am thrilled that the time has finally come,” said Zimmer. “I am very excited to get some of my very talented friends together and give our audiences an experience unlike any concert they have ever been to before.”

Harvey Goldsmith added, “There are already a number of touring concerts with orchestras playing film music with the movie projected on the screen above. Hans will be presenting his music his way. He has chosen an amazing array of musicians to accompany him on stage, including several surprise special guests. This a show not to be missed.”
